I wrote this song the first week that I moved to New York. Obviously...I was not in a good emotional state. :o) But I really think that this song will make it onto my next album, whenever someone decides they want to pay for THAT. :o) I have big plans for drums, a Ryan Adamsesque sounding slide guitar and more. But for now...here is my rough, Baskethouse version. Thanks for listening. And as always, thanks to Drew.
Rain Falling in Brooklyn
The rain's falling in Brooklyn in the warmest Spring I've known.
My feet are really killing me and there's nowhere I can go to be alone.
I'm held up in this small room. I'm afraid to go outside.
You would say to thank my stars that I get to be alive.
And I miss you. Yeah, I miss you.
I really miss you. Yeah, I miss you.
(Continued lyrics and streaming audio below the fold)
I'm looking out my back window now just to see what's going on.
But everything is quiet now. It's as if this town has just shut down.
I thought the rain was letting up but it's louder than before.
I'd give anything to see you at my door.
Because I miss you. Yeah, I miss you.
I really miss you. Yeah, I miss you.
What am I doing here? I wonder if I'll ever know.
Spring will be Summer soon. What will I have to show?
There's still so many words to say but they fall like raindrops and sound the same.
There's still so many words to say but they fall like raindrops and all sound the same.
Now my eyes, well they're half closed or half open if you like.
I think I'll get the other half down before the Sun takes out this night.
I'm really tired, really scared, and really all alone.
I really wish I had you here to take me back home.
And I miss you. Yeah, I miss you.
I really miss you. Yeah, I miss you.
What am I doing here? I wonder if I'll ever know.
Spring will be Summer soon. What will I have to show?
There's still so many words to say but they fall like raindrops and sound the same.
There's still so many words to say but they fall like raindrops that all sound the same.
They sound all the same.
What else can I say?
What am I doing here? I wonder if I'll ever know.
Spring will be Summer soon. What will I have to show?
There's so much I've got to do. And so much I still don't know.
Fall's right on Summer's back. What will I have to show?
There's still so many words to say but they fall like raindrops and sound the same.
There's still so many words to say but they fall like raindrops that all sound the same.
