Well, baskethauzers, this is a sad day for me, but I've given Drew my notice as it's time for me to get the band back into shape and on stage.
Thanks to many - the other musicians that did a great job here keeping pace. I'd be lying if i said i didn't steal a few melodies here and there - I'm not naming names...
To Drew for his amazing endurance whipping us into shape while simultaneously getting a new one of his great songs out every week. He does this all himself, Sunday through Thursday night, it's a lot of work for one guy, it's impressive. We've also become good friends through this. Man, it's like thanksgiving over here, I think they're playing the commercial music now, so I'll keep this short...
Also to everyone that listened - I really appreciate your support and feedback, this has been a really valuable experience for me, but a bit scary posting such unpolished songs every week. You all made it a lot easier...
Anyway, this last song is fitting I think, it's a love song, and basically a birthday card to my girlfriend, Carin. It's fairly simple, I'm expressing why I love and admire her. It's a waltz, and I wish I knew how to dance one, but when I play it for her, we'll fake one. Hopefully she won't tune in until I play it for her myself. Shhh...
As always, Mike Cook on drums giving us the swing, while Gordon Hartin and I duke it out on solos at the end. Unfortunately, I think I got smoked, he's playing a beautiful pedal steel part, gives me goosebumps every time.
Have a great new year!!
You may learn but you never go back
You live hard but you never crack
You may yearn but you take what you need
You love me strong, I know my heart's not easy to feed
You may never stop moving but you're always with me
Graceful Motion
You've come very far
and we've come very far
But if we separate
I cry for you to stay
So before you rise
I try to bend the time
But I'm still hypnotized
And I'm still hypnotized
Graceful Motion
